HIDE-AWAY STORM SHELTER

HIDE-AWAY STORM SHELTER – STATIONARY

The stationary Hide-Away® storm shelter/safe room gives people an economical way to protect themselves from dangerous storms. Unlike below-ground units, this above-ground unit does not present a drowning hazard in the event of heavy rains. It anchors to a concrete slab with heavy-duty grade anchors capable of withstanding 45,000 lbs of lifting force – the strongest possible from a tornado. It is made of quarter inch thick, high grade steel, with structural supports capable of protecting the inhabitants from falling, or flying, heavy debris such as trees, roofs, bricks, block and more. The door features three bolt-action locks that can be opened from inside, or outside. Each bolt is one inch diameter for the utmost in security. The massive hinges are designed to withstand extremely heavy pressure without bending and locking up. The door itself weighs 300lbs for the ultimate in safety, but swings open and closed with great ease. The Hide-Away ships on a skid, unassembled, to save on freight. An authorized dealer in your area provides professional installation.

HIDE-AWAY STORM SHELTER – FOLDING

The Hide-Away® is an innovative, space-saving storm/tornado shelter that can be folded to within 19 inches of a wall, when not in use, and quickly deployed, in just a few seconds, when the need arises. It provides a safe hiding place from storms, and will withstand up to an F-5 rated tornado. Various sizes are available to accommodate a different number of people in the home, business or school. Mike Vogt, President and CEO of Staying Home Corp. said, “Historically, there has been two main obstacles to the storm shelter industry. Traditional units take up too much space, and an assembled unit is very difficult and expensive to ship. The Hide-Away® solves both these problems, and we are very excited about how this product is going to expand the market, and provide safe haven in places where it was not feasible before, for either space or cost reasons. There are several areas of the country where homes do not have basements, like Texas. A person can set one of these up in their garage or on a concrete slab within the finished home. Businesses can install the shelter to provide their employees a safe haven. Condos, apartments, schools – the potential is very high now that we have greatly reduced the space requirements.”

HIDE-AWAY STORM SHELTER – CORNER

It is made of quarter inch thick, high grade steel, with structural supports capable of protecting the inhabitants from falling, or flying, heavy debris such as trees, roofs, bricks, block and more.

3 IN 1 SAFE ROOM™ – STATIONARY

The 3 in 1 Safe Room provides three types of protection:
1. Storm shelter tested to withstand an F5 tornado
The 3 in 1 Safe Room has been tested by the Texas Tech University Wind Science & Engineering Research Center (WiSE) to withstand and F-5 tornado. We also demolished an entire school building around one of our shelters, covering it in concrete, steel, brick and block, and when we dug it out, there was barely a dent in it; and the door and hinges worked perfectly.

2. Saferoom from armed intruders
Made of 1/4 inch thick steel, the 3 in 1 can provide protection from armed intruders, withstanding shotgun blasts and hand gun rounds. An optional military grade steel unit can also withstand armor piercing rounds, for the ultimate in protection. Whether for in the home, or workplace, the 3 in 1 Safe Room can provide fast access to safe haven.

3. Vault for storing valuables
A combination lock on the door makes the unit a safe place to store valuables like guns, ammo, furs, family heirlooms, important documents and other things you want to protect from children, fires, floods, tornadoes or burglars.

HIDE-AWAY SAFE ROOM – SCHOOLS

The solution to school security we’ve all been looking for …

  • Provides complete protection, even from military grade weapons
  • Fast, convenient and effective
  • Protects an entire classroom – not just a single person
  • Does not involve more guns as part of the solution – no armed guards
  • No ongoing expenses – salaries for security guards
  • One-time cost, low maintenance

The Hide-Away Safe Room can provide safe haven for students, faculty and staff in the event of an armed intruder. It installs in the front of a classroom, behind the chalkboard or whiteboard, and only takes up 19″ of floor space from the wall. In the event of an alarm, it deploys in just seconds, and is capable of holding an entire classroom, up to 25 students and a teacher. The door locks from the inside to prevent an intruder from gaining access. The unit is made of ballistic steel capable of withstanding a 30 caliber armor piercing round – the same material used in military grade equipment.

The country is looking for a solution to armed intruders entering schools. It’s sad, but the history of these events go back to the birth of our nation. http://www.ask.com/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States

HIDE-AWAY SAFE ROOM – SCHOOLS

Here is a list of some of the alternate solutions. If you have another, please contact us and we’ll add it to the list.

Armed guards
• Introduces more guns onto the premises
• Attacker would/could target the armed guard first, then what?

Armed staff
• Not every school would have a staff member comfortable, or capable in this roll
• Where would the gun be kept, and how would it be accessed? What if it was not convenient at the time of intrusion?

Lock down systems – Sandy Hook had a security system that prevented people from entering without being buzzed in, but it did not prevent the tragedy.

Camera surveillance systems – Won’t do anything to stop an attack.

Bullet proof white board shields
• Does not protect the entire body
• Has to be held by someone strong enough to lift it
• What about young students?
• Would not protect against a persistent attack

Bullet proof clothing
• Does not protect the entire body
• Couldn’t get an entire class to wear it
• Couldn’t get students to wear it every day, all day long

We all want to find the perfect solution. Until then, we have the Hide-Away.
